Well, the view from the
Parkway Inn in Jackson Hole Wyoming is pretty sweet! Surprise, we slept in a bed last night! I do love our tent and nomad life, but beds are really a treat. We decided to use a BedandBreakfast.com wedding gift card (thanks Shannon and Chris!!) to celebrate Nick's birthday, to snag some showers, and to regroup after several days in Yellowstone.
I don't know where to start. Yellowstone is majestic and raw, from the peaks to the creeks, the bison to the sage brush, it is a special, stand alone place. It's both awe inspiring and accessible, the multitude of trails and excursions available range from paved and even to rugged, strenuous and dangerous. Yellowstone is a place where nature is king and people come second, there is a clear understanding that we are guests in the world of nature and animals. The park embraces so many physical environments, from thick conifer forests, low plains, high plains, travertine rock formations, active geysers, active burns, forest re-growth areas. Yellowstone traverses the seasons, mountains, canyons, roaring waterfalls all in a day. Overwhelmed is an understatement.
We have hundreds of beautiful pictures, and lots of things to say about Yellowstone, I'm going to try and write while we are driving back through Grand Tetons National Park, where we will camp tonight.
One picture to leave you with before I do a proper write up on Yellowstone. It seemed appropriate that our camera battery died right as Old Faithful was erupting. We got one picture at her full height, and then the rest are for memories, which are better than pictures anyway.
